Randomness

*We have a local minor-league baseball team and I've never been to a game until last night.
Melody had a few seats in her company's box, so she was kind enough to offer us tickets.
I can't believe I didn't take one picture at the game, but I did get one of my date while eating at CFA beforehand - Kris joined us after he got off work.

*A couple of weeks ago Levi had a playdate with my hair dresser's daughter, and she had this cute little piano at her house.  Doesn't it look like he's playing?

*I don't think I ever posted this of the kiddos sleeping in the camping trailer at my mom's house at Easter.
Jacob loved it!  Don't worry, John was out there too :)

*I watched my nephew Luke last week for a little bit and Kris came home for lunch and I said, "hey, you and Luke match! :)

*I just love this face!  Messy and all!

*We've had this little bench on our porch forever, and I finally found a cushion for it that I like.
Jacob and Kris had lunch out there one day.

*Jacob sleeps in the craziest positions.  No two are ever the same.  I don't think he understands the concept of a pillow and blankets!  I peaked in his room one night and found him like this so I grabbed the camera :)

*And I suppose little brother will be just like him.

*No I'm not a hoarder, but our spare bedroom says otherwise.
Neighborhood garage sale is next weekend and I have to get rid of this junk!
can't believe i posted this

*T minus 15 days until Disney!

Have a great weekend!

Fatherly Love

Thank you for the sweet comments on Jacob's room.
I seriously cannot take credit for any of the ideas, it was all Pinterest.
I am not creative enough to come up with ideas on my own, but I'm a great copycat :)

It was a little windy today.  A perfect day to fly a kite - Jacob's first.
He's been asking all week, so we Kris promised him he would take him after church.

There is an empty field next to our subdivision, so they walked over to it.
Levi was napping or else we would've went too, so I threw the camera over Kris' shoulder before they left.
He just looked at me and asked, "blog material?"  He knows me well.  :)

They had a great time.  Kris did say Jacob let go and he had to run after the kite a couple of times.
Now where's a picture of that!
It's probably a good idea Levi didn't go.  We wouldn't be able to find him in that tall grass!

Jacob has also been asking to go fishing.
He loves to cast his fishing pole in the backyard.
So Kris surprised him one day after school last week and took him to the lake.

He caught one!

He also had pictures last week at school.
I dressed him up, but I guess the teacher thought she should change him into his 'extra clothes' so he wouldn't get anything on him.  Well his change of clothes are now a tad small.

His shirt is practically 3/4 length sleeves and his jeans are high waters, oh and they were on inside out too!

I asked him if I could take his picture and he immediately got into this pose.
Guess this is one they used for pictures at school.  Can't wait to see!

quick funny story:  I had to take Jacob (and Levi) to t-ball practice last week while Kris was at work.
I was busy chasing Levi around when Jacob yelled from the field, "Mommy, I want a hug!"
I replied, in front of all the other parents, "after practice."

I know, mother of the year right here rejecting a hug from her son.
But the kid wasn't paying attention to the coach and we were there to practice!

Then his reply to me was, "but I love you!"
Dagger straight to the heart!  All the parents in unison did, "awwwwww!"

I would've taken the hug, but Levi decided to have a blowout and I had to change his diaper in the trunk of my car.  Oh yes I did. :)

Jacob's Finished Bedroom

Tonight we Kris put the finishing touches on Jacob's bedroom.
It's only taken what... 6mos, a little longer?
We are the definition of procrastinators!

With that aside, come on in!
Kris painted the room and added a chair rail.
I saw the red and gray combo all over pinterest so I ran with that.

I saw this pin and did my own version using a "J" I found at JoAnn Fabrics and spray painted it red.
Also the houndstooth fabric is from JoAnn's and it's used a few times throughout the room.

I saw this pennant banner tutorial and wanted to make one for the room.
Wasn't sure where I was going to hang it, but this wall is so long, I figured it could go above his bed.
{I really like the pop of yellow}

The headboard was a $5 find from a local thrift store.
Kris painted it red and added the baseballs - his idea  :)

Turned out cute!

He also made the cornice box using the houndstooth fabric.

I got the idea for the skateboard from this post.
Got this one at Walmart and added the Razorback canvas.
The dresser also got an overhaul from Kris and he redid the thrift store lamp for me too - see this post for before pics..

I spray painted his name red and hung it back up.
Found the basketball goal at Academy Sports, the sports canvas print from Target, the wall decal for the 'boy definition' from Etsy and the school desk from a local thrift store for $10 - score!
Love me a thrift store if you can't tell ;)
btw, the definition says, "boy - noise with dirt on it"  Amen!  :)

Oh, and I saw this tutorial and took leftover fabric and covered the light switch :)

Also along this wall are 3 free printables I found on Pinterest.
I printed on card stock and hung in some cheap frames that I spray painted.
Love me some spray paint! :)

I didn't take a picture, but Kris also hung some glow-in-the-dark stars/moons on the ceiling above his bed.  Jacob loves!

And my favorite thing in his room is this ;)

Well thanks for sticking around.
I know I love to read posts that redo a bedroom and I appreciate the links provided for projects, so maybe you saw something you might try?   :)

More T-ball Fun

Here are some more pictures of a fun day!

Aren't the boys so cute?
Jacob is on the far right if you can't tell ;)

Little brother telling him how proud he is of him :)

There's a smile :)

He did a lot of this :)

Lukey was there cheering him on too!

He looks so grown up to me

Great job Jacob!!

Jacob's 1st T-ball Game

Today was Jacob's 1st t-ball game.
I'm saddened that I wasn't there, but I was in Kansas City at the Beth Moore Conference which itself was such an incredible experience.

Kris was stage dad and had the video camera ready :)
This video is SOOOOO Jacob!!!  Just something he would do!! :)
Enjoy!

make sure your volume is turned up :)

Show Us Your Life - Moms of Boys

Today I am linking with Kelly's Korner to Show Us Your Life - Moms of Boys.

So if you're coming over from there, welcome and here is a snapshot of my family:

I have 2 boys and I absolutely love it!  I really love saying, "my boys", "the boys" and I love that they are momma's boys :)

Jacob is our oldest who just turned 5.
He is smart, out going, loves trains, cars, french toast and loves to learn!
He can be very stubborn, but also has a big heart.  He is wonderful at being a big brother!

Next is little Levi who is 21mos.
We didn't know what we were having, so I was convinced it was a girl.  Doh! :)
Always happy!  As a baby he never cried or fussed.
And continues to be such a sweet happy soul.
Hands down, best baby ever!
by the way, cheapest entertainment ever... lids and a muffin tin  :)

I love being an all-boy mom.  They hold a special place in my heart, and I hope I in theirs ;)

Momma loves you Jacob & Levi to the moon and back and back again!

Safe from the Storm

Monday was an exciting day, well kinda.
We had a storm shelter installed in our garage.

Yes, it was a pretty penny to spend on something we hope to never have to use, but with our tax return we figured now would be the best time, plus there is no price tag on these two monkeys.

Kris was kind enough to snap some pics = blog material :)

The big black box is the storm shelter

It wasn't as loud as I thought it would be, and after they left you couldn't even tell they had been here.
They did a wonderful job cleaning up.

There she is.  It's on Kris' side of the garage, so his truck will straddle it.
He teased that he will crawl down in there and change his oil.  ha!

Before we moved into our house, a tornado actually came through this subdivision.
Luckily our house only received minor damage, but some others in the back were not as lucky.

There have been too many tornadoes close to home.
Once you're in, you can remove the steps to make more room.

Happy to now have peace of mind.

Easter 2012

I hope you had a great Easter!
We went to my parents house for the weekend, but the day before we left, we dyed Easter eggs with Kate and Luke.

Jacob brought home from school the cutest Easter keepsakes

Saturday afternoon we had an egg hunt with cousins at my parent's house.

Levi had fun putting eggs into his basket.

Jacob inspecting

Kate searching

Luke stopping to give me a cheese - I can always count on him!

Kate & Kayla

And another one...

Next mom had a few games for the kiddos to play:
"pass the egg"

"pillow case race"
which Jacob refused to participate

Easter Sunday before church

I could never get these two to look at me!

Group shot

My family of four

Cheesing it up for the camera

And again with bunny ears :)

Then Jacob's turn.  Love his dazzling eyes :)

Then it was time to head home

Hope you had a blessed day celebrating our risen Savior!
