Sweet Cousins

After being cooped up for a couple of days, the Pittmans ventured over to our house yesterday. I was so happy to see another adult since Kris was working.

Here they are watching Thomas the Train. Yes, Jacob was still in his pajamas - he (we) weren't going anywhere. Poor Lukie with another black eye.

p.s. a BIG SHOUT OUT is due to John for snow shoveling our driveway! Thanks John!

Snow Days

The snow has been constant today. I am ready for it to stop.

Here is looking out our front door:

Here is the backyard. It does look pretty with no footprints - just a blanket of snow.

Then I opened the backdoor and looked down and saw how much had accumulated against the door:

I have not bought Jacob any type of snow boots and I wish I had. I would love for him to play in it and of course take pictures. Now that I think about it, I don't know if I have any pictures, ever, of him with snow. Mother of the Year right here!
He actually has a stuffy nose/head, so he doesn't need to be out in it anyway. But still I know... I'm depriving him.

Our Family

... as drawn by Kris.

Jacob looooooves to sit in Kris' lap and ask him to draw.... anything! And surprisingly Kris does a good job. He will request anything from letters, to a banana, to Thomas the Train. The other night he wanted him to draw daddy, mommy, and Jacob.

The result:

Can't you see the resemblance? :)

Sound Asleep

I was in the living room tonight watching tv and Jacob was in our room watching Thomas the Train. The phone rang, so I got up and saw Jacob sound asleep. I could barely say hello because I couldn't stop giggling - luckily it was my mom.

I grabbed the camera because I thought this would be good blog material. :) Then I picked him up and put him to bed - he never woke.

They told me when I picked him up from daycare that he didn't take a nap, thus falling asleep before 8pm. Still love a sleeping baby - even though my baby is almost 3. Tear.

This is his comfortable position. He has always put his arms behind his head - as seen here

Love my little man!

First trip to the Dentist

Last month we took Jacob to his first dental visit. We went to the The Northwest Arkansas Pediatric Dental Center. He did so much better than we expected. Everyone in the office was extremely helpful and very nice. I highly recommend them if you're needing a pediatric dentist.

Each area has a tv with headphones, so when the child is laying down, they can watch tv. As you can see, Jacob preferred to watch it staring straight up.

This particular visit was to evaluate, because he fell at daycare and hit the front of his mouth. Luckily, he did not chip or knock out a tooth. He goes back in March for an actual cleaning. Now that visit will be a whole other story. Ugh.

Sunday Fun

We had my precious niece with us today, because the rest of her family had a terrible bug and they didn't want to pass it onto her.

We had a wonderful day together. Kate and I had many tea parties to attend, and we did a lot of snuggling! It just fascinates me what goes through her little head.

Later we all ventured out to Target. Here they are enjoying a snack (aka distraction).

Kris asked what we're buying, because we didn't have room in the cart. :)

Later this evening, we turned our bathroom into a barber shop. Both Kris and Jacob were in dire need of a haircut. I bought some clippers last week figuring we could do Jacob's hair ourselves. I wasn't expecting Kris to let me take a whack at his own (pun intended!).

We didn't have a cape, so we used a trash bag (HA!).

Then it was Jacob's turn.

He too got a trash bag. :)

Final result. Not too bad for our first time. Will let you know when we're ready to accept clients. :)

Kate, we had so much fun with you today!! We love you so!! Hope all the Pittman's get well very soon!

The Perfect Gift

My brother-in-law John knows my love for As Seen on TV Products, and so he gave me The Perfect Brownie as a housewarming gift when we moved into the new house.

I pulled it out tonight, however, I didn't have a brownie mix. I have a recipe for lemon cookies that I love, and I have now created Lemon Bars courtesy of The Perfect Brownie. Click HERE for those who aren't familiar with this awesome product.

Preparing the batter in the pan:

Inserting the awesome divider:

Voila! Perfect-sized bars:

Aren't they cute? I will be using this every time. Thanks John!

Liberty Bowl

Kris went to the Liberty Bowl with Beth, John and Kirk this past Saturday. I declined the offer because A). someone has to take care of our son and B). I don't do cold. Jacob and I were snug as a bug watching the game on tv. I kept telling him we have to look for Daddy on tv.

Beth and Kris - I told Kris they look like brother and sister here :)
Note the hood on his jacket is down.
Gettin a little colder - hood is up.

Cannot feel his face.

Better him than me in the cold. I would not have been a happy camper. Glad the Hogs won to make the 3hrs in the freezing cold worth while.

Happy 2010!

Happy New Year! I was sound asleep when the ball dropped. As I get older, I think staying up till midnight is a little over rated. :)

I've never listed new year resolutions and held myself accountable, but my sister Beth has inspired me to make a list:

1). Potty train Jacob
2). Transition Jacob into a big boy bed
3). Cook / Plan Meals - I know you're laughing, but I'm serious
4). Eat at the kitchen table
5). More dates with Kris
6). Meet new friends
7). Have old and new friends over more
8). Spend money wisely
9). Take better care of myself
10). Be a better wife, mother, sister, daughter

I know most of those aren't too ambitious, but I want to be realistic and if I can do these, I'll challenge myself more next year. :)
