Easter Fun!

We had a wonderful time at my parents house for Easter.
The weather was beautiful, and the kids loved all the activities.

First up was the Easter Egg Hunt.
I use the word hunt loosely because we basically scatter the eggs in their backyard.
I laugh at the patch of grass that my dad didn't mow so it's somewhat of a 'hunt' for the kids :)

The crew
Jacob, Luke, Levi, Cole, Kate and Kayla

And they're off!

Jacob was on a mission to find one of the Golden eggs that contained $1 :)

Next it was time for games!
This one is called see who has the worst allergies.
I mean, egg roll with your face :)

Egg toss time!

Not sure what this one is called.  Pass the egg with a spoon? :)

Don't drop it :)

Next was Hot Potato Egg

But the most looked forward to was simply throwing eggs at the target :)

Lastly was a piƱata!

My dad was in charge of raising and lowering as the kids swung.
Doesn't he look thrilled :)

I realize this is not going to make the South look good, but I had to share :)
My dad has this beat up old Honda.  We thought it would be fun to give some driving lessons in the backyard to the kiddos - ages 3-10 :)

Levi's turn :)
What I don't have pictures of is me and Beth doing donuts in it - so fun!! :)

We had a good time with our crazy family!

Happy Easter!

We left yesterday to spend Easter at my parents house.
My mom has been hosting a big Easter egg hunt for all the kiddos the last 4yrs (or so) and cooks a huge meal.  My aunt, uncle and cousins come over and we have a lot of fun.

I'll do a separate post for all of yesterday's fun.

Beth and I thought it would be fun for all the boys to wear a bowtie.
I thought they looked super handsome :)

Why is it still so hard to get a picture with genuine smiles? :)
Kate looked so pretty in her dress.  She added little white gloves for the perfect touch :)

Oh Jacob! :)

I am taking one for the team by showing this.
The one pic where everyone is looking and smiling and I look like this.  Ugh!

Because Kris didn't have senior pictures made :)

And to prove it's not always roses over here

Not everyone is always in the mood for pics :/
Just keepin' it real :)

Mark 16:6

New International Version (NIV)

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

Thank you Jesus for paying the ultimate price for my sins.
Oh Glorious Day!  He is Risen!

Pinewood Derby Race

Last week was the Pinewood Derby race for Jacob's Cub Scout Troop.
They provided the kit, so all we had to do was assemble.
Jacob painted it and added some stickers.

I could've scoured Pinterest for ideas, but I knew I wanted this to be his project and not mine :)
However, when we got to the race, it was pretty obvious most of the parents had helped.

With his buddy, Cameron

Monkey see, monkey do with this one :)
before we left Levi asked me where we were going.
I said, "Cub Scouts."
He asked, "I'm a scout, Mommy?"
Pretty much sweet boy!  You're right there in the middle with them! :)

Jacob's car was in the first heat (far left #5).
Once it was down the hill, my heart sank.
There are tricks in making your car go fast, and obviously we didn't know any!
His car barely made it to the finish line.  He looked so sad.  But luckily he shook it off.
I think I was more bummed about it than him.  Lesson learned for next year!

Some of the boys with their cars and trophy.
Luckily he received a participation medal ;)
Doesn't his expression look like he's thinking, "oh well."
:)
